you see the splash chick has a greyish /blue front head and the upper half of his beak . plus his hatch down is more of a washed up blue/grey rather than white with some buff and grey { silver chick do have some time a greyish white hatch down } like your chicks .

plus it is impossible that your Silver Black { Birchen } rooster will throw splash chicks .does not matter to what hen is matted to .
Splash will not come out of the black rooster /hens .

I hadn’t heard of lavender marans so I looked them up. Very beautiful! Do they have reliably dark chocolate eggs?

Yes, they are fairly dark eggs. The dam who laid their eggs has nice dark even speckles all over. I do agree that they look like splash, but they cannot be splash because their sires have no blue genes, that's why I'm questioning so much. I sold a chick last year that I assumed was splash and she turned out white as the driven snow.
This newest one hatched yesterday has a lot of bluish hue, which has me exploding in my brains.

Edit to add that last year I did have a blue birchen cock, but a skunk nabbed him earlier at Christmas.

Could the buff chest markings be related to autosomal red? I've noticed a bit of that among certain green fire birchen

Correct my friend .
the buff hues are related to the Autossomal Red .
Silver Hues { Not Grey } Related to the Autossomal White { Silver}

if you have a look at the silver cuckoo marans chicks cockerel hatch down ,you ll see they are more silver/blue rather than black like the pullet ,because of the double dose of the silver gene and the Autossomal White { silver}

I gotta say cleaning up autosomal red has been a pain since you can't really see it on hens. It's definitely something I am working on, hehehe.

it is what I think . Silver based Recessive white with a leakage of some Autossomal Red .

this hen has a true Birchen marking .lacing on her chest all the way down .
love her tail .shape .length and Angle .
her lacing still have some Autossomal Red leakage . mossiness
her under fluff look white to me .should be light grey .

I do agree with the American who renamed the Birchen ,Silver Black or Black Silver .like Black copper . Not Birchen .
because both of them BC and BIR are Birchen family . never make sense to me why the Silver black is called Birchen .

is she related to your Rooster ?

if those hens are the mothers of your white chicks ,than it could be another explanation ;
if all the white chicks hatched are cockerels ,than I suspect one of the Splash hen carries the Dominant white genes as a single copy . so she could only pass down that gene to her son s .
if some of the white chicks are pullets ,than this theory is busted.

Recessive white or Dominant white chicks .they have a grey marking around they eyes but the for head head and they beak is clear .

Splash chick .grey marking around the eyes / front head and the upper part of the beak .
those are the 2 main differences in the chicks marking ,can tell who is splash and who is White .

good news .
my friend who I bought my marans pullets from in December . splash /dominant white and black copper . She agree to sale me all her white/splash stock .12 ,some Black copper .2 pullets .and she will tell me more this Saturday . I told her I ll take every single marans she want to sale .

She made my day .so happy .
last week I lost 4 chooks I got from her . Dominant white cockerel ,the Blue cuckoo cockerel .splash pullet and a black pullet . plus other layer hers . I lost them to the fox .

price to pay tell my little dog get bigger . the place is too big for just one dog .the Fox is too smart . I wish I can breed a dog as smart as the fox . just a wish .

my white and Columbian marans . they have grown a lot .

well happy with a Columbian pullet . years off work and research did go into her making .

she pretty . one eye is darker plus her beak too .big deal ha hahaaaaaaaaa
