this is my favorite hen from last year's hatch. This is proper blue, right? I just love this hen! She won't stand still though and her chest pic didn't turn out very well

In blues you really want the shaft of the feathers the same color as the feather, not dark like the edges(lacing). Blue really is a harder color than most think. This young cockerel is real close to what your looking for, notice the shaft of the feather aren't dark like the edges. Hope this helps.

this cockerel is a little darker plus he has a thick lacing .
the French SOP call for a uniform blue with a light lacing .

but if a person is working with a Blue over a Blue than the cockerel should be darker like the one posted .
dark Blue cockerel is a breeder but not a show bird .

like I said before ,the blue is not a true plumage colour it is a Diluted Black ,so will throw many different shade . it is up to us to select recording to our need , breeder or show bird .

I really like this cockerel .he look s Solid Blue to me not a Blue copper .
love his long rectangular body , his tail is a little longer but good angle .

I think it is easier to breed a solid Blue than breeding a Blue copper .
