it is a good idea to have a sleeping part at the top so they can use the bottom as a shady spot .

your naked neck need help she can t make her mind . laying a egg in the water what she is thinking ? if she is thinking .I think the sun got to her head .

I should make her a hat! as she has no feathers on her neck the sun got to her head straight away, lol.

she has been chased by the other girls so I don't blame her. as soon as her wound gets better she will return to her flock where she has a sister.

yeah there isa lot marans trait we can select for as chicks ;
1) type = we keep a chunky chick and we cull the skinny one.
2) less white possible ( only under the bally and chest ,tip of they wings )
3) strait legs and well spaced ..
4) healthy ,robust chick.
5) physical defect .
6) recessive melanin . black comb / wattles and toes nails ..
7) long chick (long back ) NOT a square chick .
8) short legs chick NOT a taller legs .
9) blue/green eyes Not a black /brown eyes.
10) chicks with a brown dot on they head sign of purity of a BCM strain .are a keepers .

Well.... You were certainly right about my photography skills but chickens are not the best models..... they don't follow direction well.

You're a much better chicken photographer than me.

Though I am only armed with a phone camera and my ADHD chickens I like to think I get a good picture every now and then haha.

All your chickens seem to enjoy showing off, only a few of my older roosters are like that.

when I come with a camera my chickens run as if I am carrying a gun, lol when you put into account my photoraphy skills I think you will hardly see any of my chickens

I can't wait to hear about the french eggs!

I am trying not to think as I know 2-3 were not really good. only 5 are expected to hatch, 1 silver cuckoo. as this is a boy's year I am afraid I'll be waiting for the next season.

Monique is going to gether some more eggs for you when she have a chance, she is saying the Autumn is good to hatch girls .that what you are looking for.

plus the weather will be a little cooler too .so they don t get cooked
