here what I see on your cockerel .
his body type is a form of rectangle , not correct ,we looking for long break shape body .
his back is short .not correct .we looking for a long ,wide ,flat with a little tilt to the back .
his tail is correct shape but high angle ,we looking for 45 degree angle .lower tail .
his head is correct . strong and bright . comb need a better point ,but good small shape .
chest too high from the ground ,not correct ,we want a deep chest lifted from the ground but not too high , just enough to give the back a tilt we looking for .
feet .well spaced ,well colored and well feathered .
body pattern complete and correct Except the hackle marking ,look split to gold .should be uniform copper .

should be mated to hen/
hens with a longer back ,red copper hackle even a just a little and lower lower tail too.

your wheathen have a correct body type .long and wide . the hens have a correct tail .shape and angle { small and full } but the rooster have a bigger tail .not correct .
your hen have a good underfluf . cream but they lucking the wheat color on they wings and back { upper body } .they hackle is golde n,should be redish .
the rooster have too much white{ cream } underfluf .he should be black.
all 3 off them have a big comb .should be small and up .

you need to find a correct cockerel so you can keep working with your hens ,because the are class . they need a correct cockerel no related to them .

wheaten hen should have her 3 colors .
redish hackle
wheat color upper body and wing ,
cream under body . like yours .

I am situated in the UK and they aren't really bothered about the wing but Shelley's tail is definitely too big! I just dont have the heart to get rid of him because I have had him from an egg and he is so sweet to me and eats out of my hands which the other roosters don't do. I will probably try and keep him in a retirement pen with some of the ex battery hens I have and will go on the hunt for a new rooster. Thank you for going over them for me!

As far as his comb goes He just lost the last point that he had. I believe he lost the comb tips due to frost bite but he did have them.

shelley is lucky! he will be happy with any hens as long as he will stay with you.

This one has more correct body type. Notice the chest a bit more pushed out and broad, lower tail, wide strong back, yours is close and is unmistakably marans

Apologies for lack of knowledge but when looking at photo it look pretty darn gooo

your cockerel is more of Langshan type . throw back well know in marans population .time ago Langshan where part of third crossing to make marans ,so we still have a throw back ,but we have to select for long ,flat and wide body type . not a V shape .

we do made SOP we just breed toward it .
