International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

I know this isn't Marans related but thought I would share. It is like Christmas in March with all the snow. I also took a picture at Walmart. With the scare of the Corona virus some shelves are bare. They are shutting down schools for 6 weeks. I may have to cull my flock hard. I can't get feed. My friends grinder broke and cant get parts for it. He is going to see if he can have the part made. I hope you and your flocks are all well. Blessings to you my friends.

please don't cull your flock. you can feed them anything you can get: bread, rice, pasta, boiled eggs or potatoes, veggetables, fruits, any leftovers, etc.

this stupid coronavirus lie will not last forever. coronavirus is animal's (dog's, cat's, etc) virus and people cannot get it. if there was any coronavirus in the air there would be thousands of dead dogs and cats on the streets.

I still have too many. Nothing to do with the Corona virus. If I can't get feed I will be forced to cull. I still have about 25 to 30 out there. I will keep the main ones for sure. I will keep the 7 main BC and Blcm breeders. I will keep most of the Silvers. Just will cull down.

@marchick why can’t you get feed?
The friend I get feed from his grinder/mixer broke down. He can't get part unless he has it made. If he can have it made. If I get feed from store it will almost double my feed bill. I can't afford that. I go through close to 3 tons of feed a year. Between the turkeys, Pheasants and chickens. I have been paying $450 a ton. I bought 2,500 pounds last November and it's almost gone. It will help if I dont hatch and grow out as many this year.

It has been a hectic time here on the farm. In addition to that, my laptop died and my phone got busted all within the same week so my black cloud continues to follow me.

I did want to share my little miracle chick that was born last night. This is the only offspring from Malika and Dark Angel that hatched out of the 3 eggs I got from her before she died. :)

I hope all of you remain well during the COVID-19 pandemic. My prayers will be with all of you and your families.

I wish I could help. I'd gladly take some you didn't want or just help feed as long as I could. We are on opposite coasts. Prayers thing turn around for you very soon. I guess sometimes we have to take a step back and do the best we can. :hugs

The snow that blanketed Washington state has now come to haunt Montana. Do you want your snow back? 😁
The marans tolerate snow alright, but they sure don't like it!

We had 3 inches, just enough to cover the ground good a couple week's ago. Had to put straw and leaves on top so my birds would go outside! They will not walk on snow! Spoiled southern birds. lol
Please don't get any ideas of sending any down here. It's almost spring.:wee:ya:wee:ya:weeYay!!!
