This hatch is almost 12 weeks on the BC cockerels and some others. The BC pullets are 10 1/2 weeks old. So 2 different ages in all my groups.View attachment 2229545

because of sex linked genes .
the hen only passes her sex linked genes to her sons only .
the rooster will passes his sex linked genes to both of his progeny .
using BC rooster as a breeder over BLC hens will maintain the uniform under fluff and plumage . plus the quality of the copper .
the Blue gene seem to dilute the copper ,especially if line bred .the Blue and the copper will get mashed out with time .
breeding the Blue is the most complicated work a person can do . because the Blue never breed true . need Black to maintain it ,
I have over 50 BLC pullets no 2 of them look a same . if I had 50 BC will be different story .they will look impressive uniform Black .
No more BLC breeding for me , only keeping few for a look that all . I will breed BC from them and I will sale them next year . lot people after them ,not me .

Chooksman, Could you show me a BC and BLC Rooster hackle fluff feathers free of parasitic white. Just to give me a visual to reference. Thank you!
1 BLC cockerel hatched. both blue hens I had died. he is son of my dark egg gene BC roo and a non related hen. if god keeps my black (not sure if BC or solid black) hen alive I would like to breed this little guy to her.
I am not sure if blue hens were solid blue (looked like they were) or BLC. BC roo has nice copper with a trace of halo. I have no idea what I can expect from that breeding pair. unfortunatelly I lost my other hens and I need to find a good line who lay dark eggs.
I’ve really enjoyed switching my flock over to FBCM. This is one of my favorite hens.
She is roughly 15 wks now. Still trying to find the right Roo to go with them.
