How did my BCM hen hatch a Cuckoo Marans chick from a Cream Legbar roo? Genetic throw-back?

It is normal. BCM hen is dominant So her chick should be Black. But. The Baring gene from the CLB roo is dominant too
So geneticaly speaking all the chicks from this pair should be golgen cuckoos

Not so nasty to me for now but my husband is a different story. I am always watching my back just incase. We are thinking of putting him in a smaller pen. Maybe moving Jasper into the big pen. If he isn't needed though then he could go.

I thought this chick that hatched a week ago was a Splash. Surprise!!! I am not a Splash! So that was the lightest BLC chick that I have ever seen feathering in a nice blue though. Funny all the other chicks hatched from Jade where fine. Just this oddball!

It is normal for a chick that hatched from a BLC pair.
It is a reason why I keep saying to produce a correct BLC the sire should BCM and the hen. BLC

We keep BLC pullet from jasper and BC cockerels from blaze.

Jasper is no needed
Try Blaze on the small pen and see do not pen him with any hens.

True sibling can be mated only if both of them are correct.
