International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

Here are my new chicks that just hatched.
After much time spent staring at them, I have determined I have 3 "types".

1. penguin type with white chest
2. smoky type with grey chest
3. reddish type with auburn heads

If anyone has any opinions on which is good hatch down, which is less desireable please tell me. I am assuming reddish heads are not good...but then I read that "mossiness" over over coloured birds produce darker eggs? Not sure if that is a myth?
Also any guesses on gender on any?

I personally like the smoky type. I believe chooks man said the less white, the more correct they are?

Way back in this thread somewhere, he posted a photo of a dark smoky chick and praised it.

My most recent hatch, most were smoky and some have some mossiness.
I saw the breeders line and they are nice. In her line, the mossiness molts out and they all had beautiful coloring as adults. I cant speak for anyone else though.

I have never heard the correlation between mossiness and dark eggs. I would be curious to know too.
