LoveSong BCM hen she is good looking and correct in all area . She has finished her moult . She look great now with her new feathers .

Love to have a ward full of Marans hens like her. That my goal any way.

I like this chicks very long body type . What we are looking for.
Don t cull the cockerels yet . Need to see some photos of them when you finished sexing then . They manas lay dark eggs. So they will have that gene for sure .

I've already culled about 8 over the past couple of weeks. I had in my mind "pullet line".

There are still a few that I suspect cockerels.

don t be sorry ,if they are there it is better for us to have a look and see how good or bad they are ,
some time the theory doesn t work we need to see the real result . I m just curious to see how they look like that all maybe they are keeper .because GComb was penned with very nice hens Moonshine is one of them

I should have thought of that.
To see what kind of cockerels they would be. Lesson learned and I won't make that mistake again. It just makes sense to check them.

I did notice while culling that many were tall, penguin type.
But not all.
several had a lot of white on their face at hatch. It was a good indicator of being a cockerel.

I just penned Moonshine and Lovesong with JR and moved all other hens in with Mr. Good comb.

Now to wait a couple of weeks to collect eggs.

We have been rebuilding coops. They have a nice big area that stays dry now.

We have been tearing down the old coops one at a time and rebuilding walk in ones with the scraps on flatter land. A couple more to go.

wow your new coop look stunning very large .you have done well . I like the walk in coop easy to clean and keep the chooks dry in wet weather .
good you have penned Moonshine and Lovesong with JR , will be easier for you to know witch egg come crom witch hen , looking forward to see they babies .have high hope for them ,

this hen has a best tail of all your hens .
smal ,thin ,pointed at the right angle .she is the one going to help you breed cockerels with good small tails .
mark her in your note book as a ( tail breeder )

It must not get very cold where you are. I am assuming it does, however, get very wet.

BCM hen Amor 4 and half years old she still looking great . Finished her moult all new feathers now. Photos of her from behind to highlight the tail. The straightness and width of her legs plus the development of her abdomen. She is all good.
Legs are very important to my breeding program. We can t have a nice house with a bad foundation.

First photo we can see Philippines legs too . She is facing Amor .
