well colored eggs for sure . the breeder is doing well focussing on some thing to breed true . eggs color is the foundation when breeding marans chooks .@Chooks man
Thank you for all this information I feel like I’m learning something. As for what the breeder was focusing on, he seemed really proud of the egg color so it possible that he let comb size get out of hand in favor of egg color.
The numbering worked well for me because it took all human error out of the process compared to adding numbers later with a photo editor. I could take as many pictures as I wanted of each chick when the chick stopped cooperating i changed the chick and the card. Then there was no l confusion about what chick was what. The thing I forgot to do was mark the chicks themselves so I can’t be certain that chick number one will still be number one next time I take pictures.
The eggs pictured were from his Craigslist post not the exact eggs I received. Some of the eggs I received were a bit lighter in color but still deep brown color. He said that when the hens first start to lay they lay the darkest eggs and as they get older they will start to lay a little lighter.well colored eggs for sure . the breeder is doing well focussing on some thing to breed true . eggs color is the foundation when breeding marans chooks .
Bravo for the breeder from me .

This pullet is a nice shape. Are her thighs a little too fluffy? She is close to the ground, mostly tight feathered, chunky looking, wide stance. She's not very sociable( towards me). If I spot her again I might take more pictures.
