International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

The sun had set so pictures are not very good but I like the cockerel with the most copper. I am thinking they are 9 weeks now. I am not sure without looking it up. I wish I could of gotten a good picture of him. He is handsome for his age. I really like him so far.

@Chooks man and everyone else, I gave one of my BCM cockerels away a few weeks ago because he just about killed his brother. Then, when the other cockerel got his voice and started crowing at 5AM and waking me up every dang morning I had enough. I gave him away too.

Both went to good homes to people that are more experienced with raising cockerels and wanted one to add to their flocks, so I feel pretty good about that.

It was definitely a learning experience for me, having the cockerels, but I think both me and the pullets are more relaxed now without them. LOL. I never had cockerels before.

I'll still watch this thread because the intracacies of raising a perfect chicken are interesting. Thanks!

once upon a time I was without a roo for a few days. it was such pain in butt. hens kept fighting each other. so I was happy to put a roo who took care of them. I cannot imagine having a flock without a roo.

as for crowing, I don't mind even my dutch bantam's violin highs crowing at about 4 am.

Thank you! Yes, I was talking about the cockerel in the middle. I know he has a long way to go but so far I like him.

marans in greece are sick. this year I bought 4 marans chicks and all of them died. no way I will try them again from here. I have just talked to a friend of mine from north greece and learned that she ordered eggs from bulgaria: black copper and black silver :fl:fl:fl:fl:fl:fl
I have been told there is some goodmarans in Bulgaria, Monique did sent a lot fertile eggs there .
good luck to you to get some fertile eggs .
