I thought this young guy was handsome. Culling is going to be a big chore this year because it is getting harder and harder to determine who should stay and who should go! I also spotted this blue silver dude, even though he's clean legged and has a bit of copper bleedthrough, he's still pretty nice.View attachment 3662449
agree with you a Blue one is very nice very long too .
your line is breeding true now ,they are throwing correct and similar looking birds ,you have done the hard work no many peoples dream doing .to have a well bred line . not just a mixture of every thing . Bravo my dear friend ,

I rehomed the 3 Olive Egger cockerels today. Couple that purchased them said I'm not charging enough... 😃 Guess $5/per bird is too cheap around here. But I posted them and had them gone in less than 4 hrs.

for me there is 2 way give them free or I charge ton of money nothing in between .
guess they are going to good home that what mater in the end of day.

I also end up undercharging most people. I have a hard time reading the market because my projects are more for me than for making money. My husband gives me grief about it all the time, after he runs the numbers and rubs it into my face about how my 'hobby' has eaten more money than it produces. He is not wrong, I am addicted.

I will likely continue breeding and selling for a long time yet.

My Marans are now a couple days shy of 17 weeks old. They have been living with my flock mixed flock of 7 month old Wyandotte, olive Eggers, and light Brahma and a mixed breed cockerel. I think the hormones are starting to kick in. The has been a lot more squabbling. Nothing to serious just normal pecking order stuff I guess. Iike if I feed them treats the little ones no longer stand in the back and wait. They stand up for themselves and try to get their fair share.

Everyone looks to be healthy except that both of the cockerels are missing feathers in their legs and feet. They have scabs like the feathers have been plucked out. I looked them over and I can’t see any mites on them so I think maybe they are fighting with each other or with the mix breed cockerel while I’m not around.

Hi everyone! Sorry I have been absent for so long. I hope you are all well. I think my animals are having an identity crisis! My cat is in the nest box and my BC pullet is living in the house. I believe she had cocci. She is much better but now doesn't know she's a chicken. Her name is Raven. She likes to sit in my lap and cuddle. She doesn't try to get away. I have been bathing her everyday and blow drying her. She has chicken diapers for when she is running free in the house. Lol

I have some bad news. I lost the one rooster that was attacked by the turkey. So I am kind of lost on my future breeding program. I do have some young ones from the other rooster. First 3 pictures are the same cockerel #1. The 4th picture is cockerel #2 . The last 2 pictures cockerel #3. I do have a couple more younger BC cockerels.

I hope Raven recovers for you. Wishing you good luck with her.
And I love the name Raven.
