We have to defend our animals. All of them! If owners don't keep their animals contained and just let them run free. Most dogs are going to do what dogs do unless contained or trained. As much as I love all animals. I will do what is necessary. A lot of people just don't care for their dogs and shouldn't own them.
We use a little different last word sss shoot shovel and shut-up but the same idea! Lol
Here in the south, it seems to be acceptable to let your dogs run loose or drop them off. The difference is, this used to be a farming community. Dogs were familiar with livestock. If they troubled them, they were shot dead by the owner themself. No one would dare keep one around.
Crazy world we live in! The owners that don't take care of their dogs are the ones that should be frowned upon!

they are same to me . in 2016 awhen I sent my chooks to a friend of mine to look after them ,I was going back to Europe .we build a big shed in the back for them only young stock 200 strong .the fox get there and killed 115 . my friend did not see it till few days because he was a teacher did not have a time to go there and check every day .I lost a lot great stock that time . it is waht it is now I do not trust no preditor of any kind domestic or wild .where ever I ll go I ll build a similar design ,outer fance and inner fance so my dogs can go around any time they like ,and I will always have a dog like Nekita ,best dog I ever had .shae I did not keep here intact so I could bred her . magic dog ,she knows all the pens and all the sound of of all of them how she does that I don t know , she doesn t like when the rooster fight , and she fellow a ittle chicks where ever they go . when she pass away I will build a shrine to honner her she will be in my heart for the rest of my life ,I have had a lot trouble last few years and I haven t been into the far so often like I needed but she kept my chooks safe ,
put a skirt ( wire at the bottom about one foot on the top of the ground) around your outer fence . that what I have done inside so my dog could no dig and go wender around ,and outside side for any other animal can not dig and go in . I have 2 feets wide chooks wire small gage all around my outer fence 400 meters .
that is great genetic diversity to restart your new flock with .
