International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

@Tstraub any eggs yet?

The only birds I own that are currently laying are 2 Wyandottes. The rest of the older girls are in various stages of molt. None of the younger group has started yet. I’ve been looking around the yard just in case someone is hiding eggs while free ranging but I haven’t found any.

They have only been allowed an hour or two free range in the evenings so I really doubt they are nesting outside the coop or run. I would like to allow more free range time but with all of the delivery trucks coming in the driveway for Christmas deliveries I haven’t felt comfortable leaving them roam the property.

I'm hoping they start for you only being a weekish behind mine.
That's a nice graph!! I need that in my life.

The graph of from an app called FlockPlenty. I use the free version it tracks eggs, feed, and birds by name, age, breed, etc. I might get the full version this spring because it tracks egg sales as well. I’m not currently getting enough eggs to sell so the free version is good enough.

I swapped Roos 12-21, here's King with the 9 mixed flock.
3-BA, 3-BR, 1-EE, 1-SLW, and 1-Isa Brown
It's taking a bit for them to warm up to each other. He's used to the black birds so he took right to the BA's but not so much the others. They're getting better tho, for 4 days in.
The Sissy's (Pekins) photo bombed the second pic. 😉

Pics of Kong and the Marans coming soon.

Thanks I'll check it out.

Looks like it's only for Apple phones. I'll keep searching for something for my Android. Thanks tho. 👍

Here is a couple comb and wattle pictures as of today. Combs and wattles are getting a bit larger but still very pale pink in color.

The barred rock is the one I’m hoping to breed mystic marans from. She looks ready to lay but I haven’t seen any eggs that I can’t say with certainty didn’t come from one of the Wyandottes. She won’t squat for me but when I let them out to free range Axl leads her behind the greenhouse out of site of my oldest cockerel and she lays right down for him.

My SLW lays a tad lighter egg than the BR's but it's hard to tell apart if I don't spot her laying. No help, just saying..

My 1st 'test' hatch is going to be MMM's and Olive Eggers. I might try to source out a couple more EE eggs by spring also for that hatch. I'd like a couple fibro's and only have the 1 EE.

My GLW lays pointy eggs and the SLW lays regular shaped eggs so they are fairly easy for me to identify. One day last week I got 2 regular shaped eggs in the same day and a thought that one came from the BR but I haven’t seen any more so now I think they were both the from SLW just one came late the day before after I had collected for the day.

I hope you find the EEs you’re looking for. I wouldn’t mind adding a legbar or true ameraucana since they should have 2 copies of the blue gene. I already have one olive egger that lays brown. I also have 2 EE and 1 OE that haven’t started laying so I don’t know for sure if they have the gene or not.
