International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

Yes it just flops over :idunno :love that's Thelma she was breed with Elco.
Are you breeding for Standard or just BYM?

I'm no expert here but just relaying info I've learned, that if the hens are 'pure' Black Marans you should keep them 'Pure' by sourcing a Black Marans rooster.
Not sure what your goals are mating them to Elco, him being a Black Copper.

This little guy I'm liking so far....
Kong x Betty 9 weeks tomorrow.
Wasn't a planned photo shoot, just caught him in the coop and had my phone.

Copper is just starting to appear and seems to have a slow small tail coming in, comb I'm not too sure on, but if it's big it's no surprise. Seems to have good mass being one of the bigger ones in the group, and need better pics outside to see if this is his natural stance. (Leg width)

The past couple weeks my BCM rooster Axl has been starting to become aggressive to me when I enter the chicken run. He is about 13 months old and has never been aggressive to me before. I used to walk through the run and never pay much attention to him. If he approached me I would say hi get and maybe give him a scratch on the head without any worries of being attacked.

Now he runs at me and tries to attack my feet and ankles. If I yell at him he usually runs away but sometimes at me spurs first and heckles out.

He has dropped most of his tail feathers I assume it’s molting but not positive. Maybe he is just cranky because he is not feeling well?
Another possible thing that started this is that I did cull 7 cockerels a few weeks ago. Is it possible that he thinks I’m coming to take his hens away or coming to get him? I don’t know maybe I’m over thinking it and putting human emotions on an animal.

Anyway if anyone has any thoughts on what might be causing his sudden change of attitude or tips to help manage him I would appreciate it. I have only been keeping chickens for a little over a year so I don’t really know what to expect out of him.
