All of my cockerels have pink feet. He is correct according to the SOP.Anyone have pink feet coming out in a cockerel?? It's really strange. Don't have a picture but as the temps lower he seems to have developed pink-ish feet, shanks and toe ends and black but not the entire thing.
Except for black, is what I'm reading. Is this not a correct interpretation ? That reads to me differently. All of my cockerels have pink feet. Then he is correct according to the SOP.
white or lightly pink coloured for all the varieties except for the BLACK, BROWN-RED and BIRCHEN Marans were grey or dark grey is permitted, although not preferred, for both sexes.
Four long and well separated toes with the outer one sparsely feathered. The claws are white or horn- coloured

chickengr is correct. It reads that all Marans have white or lightly pink colored legs, Black, BCM and Birchens are permitted to have grey or dark grey but it is not preferred. This is the French SOP.
acv in water and some oil, either syringed or in feed might help. whole BOSS as well.
Yes breed him to a hen with a good comb and cull hard. It is recessive so it probably means it is somewhere in my birds too!
I lost a very nice big FRF pullet. She was egg bound and I could not help her. I don't like to interfere too much in these situations as I feel that the hen is inherently weak and it would just happen again. She was a very sweet beautiful pullet, I hated to lose her.
I don t think any rooster have or had a bad comb like my Charlie the silver cuckoo .
go back and read the post .I posted photos of his comb and the photos of the combs of his progeny SLEEK has an excellent comb ( SLEEK is an F2 )
we are working with an no inbred chooks ,so what we see doesn t mean they are a true breeders for that trait ( fault or quality ).so we can breed from and move on the a new progeny ( better if it is larger) and chose the best one .
I have been saying the Show chook and the Breeder chook are different .
we need to breed our own line ,so we ll know what we are doing and how to work with them .
chooks man
Winterhorses, Pinky is an absolute stud! Bred him true and often - you will get excellent progeny from him. KeithHello everyone! I haven't been able to check posts for a few weeks due to being so busy and have so much reading to catch up on! I'm currently enjoying watching my Lavender Marans babies grow up (they're 2 months now) and wishing the 3 BCM chicks I got hadn't all turned out to be boys. That said, any recommendations for breeders with consistently good pullets? I need some girls to breed with Pinky Pie since none of my six are close to SOP. I'd love to get my hands on layers, but will take younger pullets or even (sigh) hatching eggs. Any thoughts on what characteristics I should be looking for to mesh with Pinky's? Thanks! (Here's a reminder of Pinky, though I need to get more recent shots since he has a little more copper now.)![]()
