International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

View attachment 4107266Saw these listed in eBay. I’m not going to spend £80 (about $100) on a dozen eggs, and don’t need more French standards, but thought they were interesting.

They’ll be taken down soon anyway as all eggs are being taken off of eBay. All mine were taken down today without warning due to a policy change.
Lovely looking rooster. Does this mean marans were bred with something like lavender orpington to develop this color variety?

I would assume so, because as far as I’m aware the lavender gene shouldn’t exist in this breed. Orpingtons or Brahmas would be my choice over the likes of an arucana or leghorn due to earlobe and egg colour.

Though looking at the egg colour of these they’ve done a lot of work to get back to the marans standard.

marans breed does not a bantam gene but they bantan marans are accepted by all the Standard .
they did a lot work BRavo to them ,
French always desagree with me in creating new varieties but they accepted the Bantam ,
