International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

Do you guys usually find them get darker? It’s funny because mine have always started at their peak.View attachment 4266185this was Chanel’s first egg for example. Maybe this line is uncommon and starts dark.

I had a pullet that her first egg was pink with speckles. she ended up with #5+.

Some photos showing Welligton’s tail in a more flattering stance. Also shows you the levels of sunlight we’ve been getting.

I am just really appreciating the shapes of this flock very much. They are gorgeous.

I agree. Their eggs sure can change from the first few they lay. If you can keep track, do! This is part of the challenge the Marans give us as enthusiasts.
I will do. Each of my pullets usually gets an album in my phone for their first 21 eggs. May be more difficult if the others start at similar times, but this one I can keep track of at least. I’ll post her next eggs soon if they darken up (I’ve been working so haven’t seen them).

Thank you. The silver cuckoos are my F0s so I can’t take too much credit. Very happy with them myself though, can’t wait to get my F1 Black Copper x Silver Cuckoos. I should get some very nice Golden Cuckoos with these genetics.

@Chooks man you may have seen my pictures already but I wanted to show off these few to you. My favourite pair of silver cuckoo English and black copper French Marans from this year. Unfortunately I lost the BCM cock but have his sisters and dam. I’ll get some pictures of the nice dark cuckoos soon.
