Otter, a bit square type and dark neck (though this is better than a silver neck in darks). Legs have a bit of colour but it’s a pale bluish tint rather than a dark slate. Probably the weakest of the four but still workable if she lays a nice egg.

she look s good ,love to see what egg colour she will lay .hope very good one . happy for you ,View attachment 4274240View attachment 4274241This is a BCM I bought. Same breeder as the darks. She hasn’t got a name yet but I’m quite happy with her. Not quite as long or big as Claudie but very tidy and refined type. Her hatching egg was an 8 I believe, can’t wait for her to start laying.
they harking seen good to me true Dark cuckoo cockerels line ,but they legs color should be pinkish /white not slate because of the cuckoo gene, they must have some extra Melanin .that why they hackle is dark too .I m just assuming not sure because genetically doesn t make sense .View attachment 4274242The last two darks to post. The two smaller ones. Toad, the one that escaped when I got her and I had to get help chasing her out of hedges. Tail tidy but a bit high. Breast not quite as full but she could fatten up. Very dark pattern. Crisp barring with good undercolour, but a lack of barring on the top of the neck. She has very good, clear white legs though, the best legs of all the cuckoos.View attachment 4274253View attachment 4274254

Yeah I assume they’ve been bred with excess melanisers to avoid silver hackles, but have actually been over-corrected. Might benefit from having silver cuckoos bred into them to dilute the legs. Funny that the pullets with paler legs have darker hackles, and better hackles have darker legs.they harking seen good to me true Dark cuckoo cockerels line ,but they legs color should be pinkish /white not slate because of the cuckoo gene, they must have some extra Melanin .that why they hackle is dark too .I m just assuming not sure because genetically doesn t make sense .
chooks man
you know my friend ,genes don t express them selves is rational matter , I think they where bred with a solid black to maintain the dark plumage ,but they forgot to correct the feet ,Yeah I assume they’ve been bred with excess melanisers to avoid silver hackles, but have actually been over-corrected.
