International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

LOL...I have the Styrofoam one that is sitting on top...does well for me...hatches great...I'm just small time...he he

I am clearly not hatching on a level with some of you, but I do like my little Hovabator still air incubator.  I put a 6W reptile heating pad under the water tray that I plug in when I am hand turning eggs and it helps it get back up to temp much more quickly.  You just HAVE to remember to unplug it when you're done.

I started out with a little styrofoam hovabator and it did its job. I had to hand turn in mine as well. With it being still air I did have occasional temp spikes but nothing that harmed my hatches. You can easily install a fan to make it forced air if you ever take a notion to tinker with it. I think you can use an old computer fan.. I saw a youtube video on it once. Nothing wrong with styrofoam incubators. I was very fond of mine. :)

Lol I love my little styrofoam Genesis. It works very well as a hatcher during lockdown and it keeps all that fuzzy chick dust out of my Sportsman. The temp stays right on the money. :)

We set and hatch weekly, sometimes as freqently as every four days during hatching season to keep breeds separate so our clutches arent huge and the Genesis works very well for that purpose. But I have set and hatched the whole 21 days in it before and my hatch rates are pretty close to the Sportsman in it.
