cockerel 2 =
great body color .rich red copper .
nice comb
wide shoulder nicely colored too

Fault ;
short back
legs on X bad thing to have plus they are too dark and not well feathered .

I ll not use him .the legs problem is very hard to breed out

I prefer cockerel one so far.

Otis is a true handsome .
I ll use him even if he did not have a tail because of the sublime red copper color he posses plus look at his feet . medium size . light grey with some pink coming through them . well feathered and the best thing they are strait and well spaced indication of well developed breast .

he have a lot great thing too .
well marked chest . it isn t over marked as a breeder is perfect for the pullet line

I think he is more proud of his comb ,he know it is the best one in the forum . Breed from him please .

his copper coloration is hard to come by  Wry tail is easy to breed out but Rich red copper and strait leg are very hard to show up .

Thanks Chooks Man! Otis is definitely going into the breeding pen in Spring 2017. I hope you don't think I'm being to critical of Otis. I'm try to be honest with myself about the traits of my chooks, positive and negative. I was thinking Otis could be the foundation sire of my pullets line. I appreciate your confirmation of my thinking. I need to post a side view of Otis, his copper coloring almost has a velvety appearance. He by far has the best color of my three breeders. I'm really excited to see how his progeny grows out.

Thanks Again,
Keith

I finished building coop and pen number 3 . not easy with this heat . i ll get there one day .
coop/run1 Black copper
coop/run 2 Birchen
coop/run 3 Wheaten

lot work still head to be done ( doors and stuff )

they are loving it . they are handling the heat better and laying more than when they used to be in the shed .. Because they are not restricted . they are out all the day ,going to they coop just to lay and to roost .
plus they wake up 1 hour early and they go to roost one hour lat .because of the natural light plus they have no doors to keep them in .
they drinking and eating more . running around all the day need energy . so I m giving them mix grain at 15% protein plus they breeder much soaked in water with Vitamin . they love it .
I m going to start giving them sprouted wheat and sun flower seed .

enjoy the photos

all the coop are facing north . the western side and the south side where the nasty wind come from are closed ( zinc sheet easy to clean )

Tough break Chooks man. :( We ran into bad luck this time last year but we ended up raising plenty of chicks despite the setback. Everything will work out hopefully and your brooders will be full soon! Our Sportsman is nearly packed full already and our first hatch is due this friday. No Marans though, too early for them.. plus none of them are laying. My husband has lights on his Game breeders and they are producing well. My birds are taking a break for the winter except for one Sussex and a couple White Leghorns.

my chooks are laying like there is no tomorrow .nice large eggs . the rooster are nice and active too Only the man technology let me down .

Great lesson for me . I never had such a set back like that before in my life . over 50 fertile marans egg where toast out . heart breaking .

the luck will change .
