International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

yeah they are sex inked .

all the gene that are shown in the genome with just one letter and the - sign next to t is sex linked gene .

Example ; Gold and silver , S/- for the silver hen . s+/- for the golden hen. the Roosters are S/S or s+/s+
Barring B. gene . hen B/- .rooster B/B.
Dermal inhabiter ID . cause the lighter colored shank . so the hen is ID/- darker shanks and the roosters are ID/ID lighter shanks.

there is a lot other genes too like the eggs color a lot we don t know.

RedBank it is a wise idea to breed and select one breeds with a few varieties ( depend the space and time ) to work with .

the other breeds as a layer flock or broody hens.

it is impossible to master the genetic and the standard of all the breeds.

especially like the marans is a rich breed .a lot of different varieties. a lot to keep and to do.

RedBank all the marans are the same topping only the difference is they cote color that all.

what do you mean about a silver cuckoo have a lighter silver head. that good .

I m against the uniform cuckoo is like a black hens .they don t belong to any varieties just people want them too.

here we talk French standard so she have a lighter hackle than she is a proper one like the one is my avatar Chelsea .silver cuckoo marans french type .

post photos of her so i can see what are you talking about.

it is amazing what the sunshine can make of colours. she doesn't look silver at all, lol.

I have decided I am going to eliminate a lot of my pullets and hens that are not Marans. Very difficult decision, I love my girls.
I have the same problem. I have arranged to rehome 1 roo and marko, my bcm cockerel. he definitely is a cull so I am glad the guy from the feed store will take both of them. so I will be able to see them when I go there. my hens will remain in my laying flock. but my problem are my araucana and buff orpington boys. at the moment I don't have room for so may breeds. it looks like I will make a breeding pen and keep boys separate.selling araucana and orpington fertile eggs would help me to buy feed. I am getting crazy thinking what to do.

my youngsters were penguin like, is that good or bad?
Neither good or bad, some BCM chicks look that way, some don't. At least I hope there is nothing wrong with it, most of my chicks had that coloring.
