Well done .that how we do it .just go for it and hatch a good number of chicks because.genetic favors numbers .

I think now you have enough chicks to really see the reel genetic expression of you flock . Greater is the number wider will be the genetic expression .

eating marans chooks is great .I only eat my chooks nothing else .
I do a lot culling at 5 month and half or 6 month . best time to cull the marans chooks for they meat .

So far there are a lot of culls in the Marans brooder from Cooper.. lots of heavy middle toe feathering. I will free range any extra cockerels that don't get culled early on to grow out and eat them this summer!

The blue coppers from Mud look great so far. I have yet to hatch a single chick from my FRF pullet. I only have 2 eggs in the incubator from her. I thought she had just up and quit laying all of a sudden but in reality we had an egg eater in the pen! I had left the easter egger pullet in Mud's pen when I moved the sussex to the layer pen because she had been with them since she was a chick. Well lo and behold she has been eating eggs and we finally caught her with yolk in her beard. I gave her away to a friend of mine. There is always some kind of chicken drama. lol

My work friends think I'm crazy when I talk about my chicken drama.

I have just discovered the farm in north greece. the owner is russian so I guess the white marans come from russia. they have other breeds that it seems they come from germany (german breeds and they advertise them with german and greek names). I guess I am ordening a trio. they do sell 2 month old chicks.

what colours will I get with jupiter and the whites?

White marans are very nice and easy to work with if you are going to use Jupiter .

we need to know what based are this white chooks .ER or Ewh or some thing else ?

if you get them,we ll find out in the first year of breeding them .

White marans are very rare .

if I remember well you have some russian friends. can you ask them about the white marans genetics?

I have just ordered a trio, if available the lady will put another pullet as well. the price is 10 EUR each, not bad at all? cheaper than the eggs in your countries. they should be here in about 2 months. I ordered 1 english blue araucana pullet and 1 solid black pure transylvanian naked neck pullet together with them. they usually don't sell the females only but the lady is really kind and willing to help.
