in greece the price of 45-60 days old chicks usually are 7-15 eur. not sure due to crisis or it was like that before the crisis. I know a person who sells bcm chicks for 7 eur but he will not sell the females only. he usually leaves some chicks at my friend's place and sell from there so my friend will try to steal 1-2 girls for me. I also gave my incubator to my friend to test it and he will put some of his marans eggs for me. if the girls hatch they will be mine. mario, marco and luna came from his flock although he changed the roo. the problem with his flock mostly is floppy comb at hens but I can fix it later. marco looks like he might help with that as well as the egg colour. I must take good care of my boys. although they are not perfect they are good breeders.

really nice chickens. I cannot decide who I like the best.

in greece hybrids cost about 5-6 eur at 3 months old and barnyard mix chicks 4-6 weeks old cost 2-2,5 eur. pure breeds, not just marans cost 7-15 eur starting 6 weeks old. fertile eggs 1 - 3 eur. the cheepest ones usually are mixed colours.

I finally found three black copper Maran hens today for sale. I'm so happy they're six months old and they're not laying yet but they will be soon I can't wait!

I'm glad that everyone is doing well and is still as active as ever on this thread. I'm excited to return to start sharing/learning with you all.

I would explain my absence but it is quite a long story, perhaps I will share bits and pieces along the way.
Shortly I will be sharing some quality photos of my good chicks... but for now I am going to share a few pictures of a few of my cockerels.

This is my current favorite. He has a poor comb, yet it is still better than both of his parents.
He greatly reminds me of his sire.

In this photo you can see a light colored/scrawny boy in the back.
I will be rehoming him away shortly.

@Chooks man So far we've culled 2 chicks from the LA group with vulture hocks. Looks like you hit the nail right on the head when you said that middle toe feathering goes hand in hand with vulture hocks. You were right.

But on a more positive note, so far I have 3 eggs from Mud x the LA pullets I have saved to set. Mud has been with them for the past couple days.

Also, one of my LA BCM chicks has a small brown spot on it's head. I tagged it to watch it as it grows out.

I love the length of his back. And he is coloring up really nice. Can't wait to see pics of your chicks! Hope all is well. Glad you will be able to be around more on the thread.
