International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

I tried to get a few more pictures! First two pictures are of Blue Copper and second two Black Copper. My camera always lightens everything.

I like them a lot .they have =
nice body type ,
Great flat long back,
well position tail ,nice and thin too .
strait legs and well feathered
well colored eyes,
nice head ,
the comb is nicer on the black copper cockerel not the blue copper
blue copper has a better mass
both cockerels are showing some nice copper coming along they hackles and shoulders .

the black copper pullet is stunning love her type and well colored hackle.

you don t have a quantity but what you have is quality . witch is a great thing . quantity is only good to fill up the freezer .

keep your eyes on them .they have a great potential as future breeders .

Hey Chooks Man, when you say 'parasitic white' I am assuming that this is a bad flaw. I just got some FBCM chicks from a woman who has one rooster, very similar to the photo, with white in his tail. Her other FBCM rooster was very good looking. Unfortunately, she had not kept the flawed rooster away from the hens so no way of knowing which chicks came from him. What signs would the chicks have of parasitic white and is it possible to breed it out in later generations?

parasitic white is a white feather on the tail , the wing feathers or the under fluff is lighter

hard to breed it out but could be done . just need more time .

the chicks with a parasitic white have the lighter hatch down with more white on they bodies and they faces .

Thank you, I was worried about them being over melonized. I will be getting another batch from the same person soon. I got them from Julie and they are Bev Davis line. I never know if you should say where they are from or not! Should I keep the line pure or add a second good line. What to do....What to do......

@kfelton0002
Thank you! So basically you just switch to another incubator to hatch out? It was sounding, to me (inexperienced) that there were two different types of devices. It makes since now, it keeps the one clean

You're welcome! Hatching is messy and my Genesis is just easier to clean. :)

Does this also effect egg color? Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge.

Hi everyone! Just wanted to post a couple pics of my two LP black copper marans chicks that hatched today. I have one more that has pipped, and three that have not pipped. Hoping the last three will hatch. Just wanted to share and get opinions on them! Please critique away. Thank you
.
This is Styx he/she has more white on the tummy and white on his wing tips. Sorry if the pic is blurry. Camera focuses on everything but the chick

Styx wing tips.

Styx rear.

This is Onyx.He/she has much less white. Tiny bit on chest. Smaller patch on wings. Both chicks have black faces.

I know shipped eggs are a HUGE gamble. So I am super pleased to end up with these two. Can't wait to watch them grow. I am going to order leg bands so that I can keep good records of their development. I will share pics as they grow. I will listen to all suggestions on how to help keep this breed going in a positive direction

I understand the the white on the wings may be a bad thing, so a little disappointed about that, however I will see how they do as they grow.

will be nice to get more of them ..

it is not a crime to say a breeder name for references .

always keep the line pure if it is close to the standard .if does need work you can outcross it to other line to fix what wrong .

they have a proper hatch down .

cute chicks, congrats!

they all have some white at hatch but it will not stay. the problem is only if they have it as adults, don't worry!
