International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

So going for the silver cuckoo would be a better addition versus blue Birchen, you think? Both will help my main problem, but finding quality silver cuckoo can be hard... Unless you all know someone.

I have 3 BCM and 5 Blue Copper Marans about 16 weeks old. I also have one Blue Copper rooster that is showing Copper but he has a white tail feather. In my batch of 8 there where 3 roosters. This is what I have to work with!!!! Any and all input would be awsome. Thank you!

both of them work together well .they can be run together too .

Blue Birchen with a Birchen will give you 50% each

Silver cuckoo ,you only need hens no rooster .

witch one is easier for you to get .

Could you show & tell the difference between your incubators & your hatchers? I know everyone on here hatches A LOT of chicks at one time, but I was just wondering about the difference

I set and hatch weekly like a revolving door. I set in one incubator and hatch in another to keep my sportsman clean. New eggs go into the sportsman as the oldest eggs come out and go into the hatcher (Genesis) for lockdown on day 18. I have used my older sportsman 1202 for setting and hatching before and my hatch rates were always good. I am using a small hovabator Genesis as a hatcher now during lockdown and it works very well. I have it rigged up where I can add water to the bottom of the incubator with a piece of clear tubing (like fish tank air tubing) so I dont have to open the incubator during lockdown. I am very happy with the system I am using because I am always setting fresh eggs, no older than a week old. That contributes to a good hatch rate also.

Hey Chooks Man, when you say 'parasitic white' I am assuming that this is a bad flaw. I just got some FBCM chicks from a woman who has one rooster, very similar to the photo, with white in his tail. Her other FBCM rooster was very good looking. Unfortunately, she had not kept the flawed rooster away from the hens so no way of knowing which chicks came from him. What signs would the chicks have of parasitic white and is it possible to breed it out in later generations?
