International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

So I am going to brag on @RedBanks for a bit. I just received the package of eggs from her, and they were wrapped up snug as a bug in a rug. Best packaging job I have ever seen, and I have received quite a few shipped eggs. Not one broken egg in the bunch! Here is a series of pictures I took as I was unboxing them to share her method. I will use this method in the future when I ship eggs. They are truly beautiful Redbanks! Pictures just do not do Marans eggs justice. They are much darker than they appear, my kitchen lighting is bright and unflattering for taking egg pics. :hugs

She used a double boxing method. Here is after I opened the outer box. She used egg cartons and foam to cushion the inner box with the eggs inside.

Underneath those cartons was a pulp egg flat.

Here is the smaller inner box with the eggs inside.

And underneath the smaller box, more foam.

Opened the smaller box, she used newspaper to fill up void space to make the eggs snug and cushion the eggs.

Underneath the newspaper... EGGS!! Wrapped up in bubble wrap, large end up.

Underneath the bubble wrap, the egg was wrapped in soft napkin so the egg could receive oxygen and be protected from the plastic.

The first egg! :D

The eggs were all big, beautiful, and richly colored. They have a gorgeous shape and russet color. They will settle at room temperature for several hours, then into the incubator they will go. :)

will get to that one day soon .
some out cross need to be done in a specific way between the LP and the FRF lines will solve a problem .
both original lines come from a small stock .so you guys are dealing with a lot Atavistic return of the Recessive genes .

I am hoping to see some improvement with the FRF x LA line. Maximus's tail is still looking good, not too high. I am really looking forward to seeing the offspring from his pen. The FRF x LA and blue copper pullets in his pen laid a few eggs then quit due to this little cold snap we are having. Autumn is upon us.. the nights and mornings are chilly and the days are getting shorter. I am patiently waiting on the steady stream of fertile eggs for the incubator to begin. Until then, I have plenty to keep me busy. :)

I was out taking some pictures a little bit ago so I thought I would share. Sorry, there are a lot.

The 2 girls. I finally managed to get a couple pictures of them together but the one didn't want to stop eating and stand up for me.

And Mr Roo (He still needs a name). It's obvious that he is not at the top of the pecking order. Apparently, he's been fighting with someone recently.

The girl on the right has beautiful type, and both pullets have good hackle color and glossy black plumage. Looking great!

Mr. Roo is lovely! I love his type and tail angle. His copper color is nice, and he is wide from the rear view so that is good. His tail is a good size an length, not to big or long. They are going to make you some really nice babies I think!

Goodnight everybody! Gotta get this boy of mine in the bed. :)
