@dvoice
the comb of this cockerel is good too ( not for the USA SOP one point short ) original french SOP this comb is faultless .
love his ear tuft color .
his wattle has a folding , not as good as the first cockerel .
love the red shoulder of this cockerel .

I think you have some gorgeous BCM cockerels in there .
you are spoiled for the choice .
BRAVO .
that what happen when we have a large number to select from . plenty to choose from

@dvoice and @RedBanks

this cockerel has a good body type and great body color . plus a good tail too .
BUT his comb/wattles are inferior than cockerel 1 and 2 .they are huge and the comb is touching the head ,he is still a cockerel ,what will happen when he is 2 years old .the comb will be all over the place .

don t take me wrong he is a breeder for sure 100% .need to be mated to hen/hens with a faultless comb ( show quality ) that all .

How do they look?

So far no more have pipped, there are 3 chicks total now, one of the chicks that had pipped hatched but the other two are still working on it.

The best I can see of the chicks through the window of the incubator they look to be very good quality. No white on their faces that I can see so far, one is still wet. Definitely no parasitic white at all. Their legs are feathered nicely. They are plump looking and vigorous, and they act like they are ready to come out of there. I am very satisfied with the chicks I have so far, quality is way more important than quantity. :love

my dear friend ,you need more one year to get ready of the white earlobe from your flock if they are a carriers .
agree with you if you mate your red earlobe cockerel to a 3 pullets ( carriers of the white earlobe) most of they progeny will have a red earlobe . but some of them will be a carriers .

here how you do it if you want to get ready of it for good .will take you about 3 minimum breeding years .
1) YEAR1; mate your cockerel Red earlobe to the 3 pullets = F1
2)YEAR2: a) select the best red earlobe pullets and mate them back to they Sire = BC1a ( first back cross) all of them will have a red earlobe ,but some will be carriers of a small degree of the white earlobe gene but they ll not show it .

b) select the best red earlobe cockerel from the F1 and mate him to his Dam and aunts = BC1b. most of them will have a red earlobe .

3) YEAR3 : a) now you need to mate the BC1a between them selves = F2 bc1a .most of this progeny will have a red earlobe and will breed true for this trait ( they are your keepers) .few may show the atavistic return of the recessive gene of the white earlobe ( all cull ).
b) you need to mate as well the BC1b red earlobe between them selves ( same as you done with the BC1a) =F2 bc1b all red earlobe . few will have a recessive white ( cull ).

4) YEAR 4 : Now you ll start your 2 new line and breed them separately forever .
PEN 1: best cockerel from the F2 bc1a mated to the best pullets from F2 bc1b = line A.
PEN 2: best cockerel from the F2 bc1b mated to the best pullets from the F2 bc1a= line B

by this time you ll have 2 pure BCM line breeding true for the red earlobe 100% , none of them will be a carriers .

thank you very much. the pullets have whitish and not white earlobes so I hope I will have good results sooner.

Thanks.
Lack of circulation in the cold maybe? That's normal?
He may well lose some points this winter here in my climate.

I do have a full BCM pullet, and a BCM Mix, will try to get pics.
They both have decent color(for my purposes) in eggs,
but the BCM went broodyish and hasn't laid since.

He is for an Olive Egger project over CCL and blue laying EE's,
rather than than SOP BCM.
I will hatch out some BCM too tho.

Not great, don't have a chart:

Beautiful egg color! Just because the color isn't a 7 an 8 doesn't mean the color is "not great." The deep russet color is what the breed is known for. To get a 7 or an 8 is few and far between, it's eggs like yours that most of us see and they are perfectly lovely just like that. :)

So you think you will have 5 total?

I really like this cockerel.
I think he has good eye color - hard to tell
Nice beak color
Nice long back with a slope
I really like his body - he has mass and a good breast - rectangular and strong
I like his coloring
Legs are colored nicely they don't look too dark - dim lighting
Legs nicely feathered
tail is long but it looks like it is usually carried at a good angle
