International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

don t believe in what they say in the internet .

chicken and the goat in one pen . chooks will keep the pen clean from the ticks and bugs.

the pig can go to another pen with a chooks too . chooks always do a good job cleaning after them . watch the pig will find and eat the eggs not the goat my friend .

the day you get the land I ll help you design it .
which you all the best luck .

When you get your land, planning will be much more effective. You can spend hours on this and not have anything work with the land you buy. Something I like to do is collect pictures of things I would like to have on my property or ideas I really like. One day I will have this shower.

@RedBanks .
I really like this guy .
he ll have great tail .
he is well put together .move free and balanced . you done a great job .

need to work on the comb . his comb is his weakest point .the point are nice bit the front is weak and thin . not a good news .not a big deal either .

need to find your best hen as far as the comb goes .a hen with a thicker and rough textured comb .

not far form the show quality .

chooks man
Thank you CM, that means a lot. I was concerned about the comb. I tried to get good pics of it hoping you would comment. I am like Kfelton on this..... I am trying to learn combs. When you don't have any good combs it is difficult to understand them.

What I like about him (keeping my fingers crossed these things don't change):
His back is long and sloped. Antonio has a flatter back and it doesn't help the tail set.
His neck is longer than Antonio's. I can see where that is important now. I love his tail. I think he will still have the body mass but in a more refined way. It will be fun to see how he develops.

Aint that the truth! I have like 2-3 good combs out of all my birds. Most of them are bad. Combs have been the hardest part for me to learn.

I have to laugh. I did a search of this thread to find out about my mossy chicks. I found a post of mine talking about Gabby and Sister being mossy. I promise I don't remember that but they turned out alright!
:confused::idunno:lol:

I think mossiness is only bad when the chicks keep it when they go through their molt out of their baby feathers. Every now and then I have a mossy chick but none of my older birds are mossy.

I just bough a new line of wheaten marans young flock 10 pullets and 2 cockerels .
those chooks come from a show quality ( not my standard show . judges by peoples who never laid they eyes on a true pure marans in they life .) any way some of them are nice other are a cross between a golden salmon / Black tail buff /blue wheaten .
the oldest one are 16 weeks and the youngest 2 cockerels are 8 weeks .

the breeder I bought them from is a good friend of mine .we work together in few project .h likes to show the chooks and I like to breed the chooks. View attachment 1202013 View attachment 1202014

From the looks of him he's going to make a fine rooster! Its amazing how they change. In a months time they might not even look like the same bird. His copper and type is great! He looks to be growing into that tail too.. not too long anymore! Beautiful! :)

your chooks come from a well colored strain so they ll have some extra copper to show when young . don t to worry about it . will goes away .a same as a white flacks on the chest .they molt away .

you still have to watch ,to keep a body pure black at adult stage .because Antonio is loaded with the Autossomal red .so he ll throw some over colored chicks for sure .
