very .very hot last 3 day .43/47 DC . lost few chooks .
lost Samir .Elvis .one wheaten hen .one BC young hen and one Bir young hen( gorgeous specimen ).

I do no like the extreme weather .lucky I have a lot tall grass .keeping the ground cooler.

the young one are doing great .growing fast .there is about 80 of them .some are very nice and deed . will take photos when I have time .

Sorry Chooks man! I hope you don't lose anymore. The weather is not good in both extremes. Now our power just went out and it is so cold out and getting dark.

So sorry for the heat Chooks man. We have both extremes in Eastern Washington State USA 100+ degrees in the summer and -14 degrees in the winter. Hope it cools down for you.

Sorry Chooks Man! You’re right, both weather extremes are difficult to deal with but fortunately Marans are one tough bird. My Marans have the freedom to roost in their coop or outside. For whatever reason they prefer to roost outside even when we had 100 straight hours of 20 degrees last week - they just tucked their heads under a wing.

I am so sorry Chooks man! I know how you feel, I have lost quite a few young birds and chicks during this cold snap we've had.

so sorry to for your losses. you lost a fortune.

have you ever tried to put a piece of 90% shade cloth in the chicken runs. those cloths people use in the garden. it helps a bit as temperature under it is about 10 degrees lower.

I just moved 7 more Marans eggs to lockdown. This is the last of the eggs they've laid. It's been so cold and dreary so they haven't given me anything in 3 weeks. I can't wait to take more baby pictures! The first 6 that hatched at the beginning of last week are growing fast and strong!

one of my pullets is sick. she cannot digest food. I didn't feel anything in her crop except some corn that might be sitting there for at least 48 hours. I went to the vet but he knows almost nothing about chickens. as she laid 1 soft shelled egg 2 days ago and her digestive system is not functioning he suspects IB. as I had IB in my flock I really doubt it. she has no respiratory symptoms.

did anyone had any similar situation? the pullet expelled 1 worm yesterday. I gave her human vermox but she did not expel any other worms. she cannot walk properly. I guess she is in pain.
