International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

None of my Lavender Ameraucana eggs set showed any sign of life. Not sure if it was a temperature problem or my Rooster is not fertile. I have one chick so far and it looks to be a Splash Copper Marans. My first one ever! I don't think my incubator temperature was quite right. Day 22 and only one other pipped.

That sucks :/
What was your humidity at?

One little chick! I hope a few more hatch!

Sorry your hatch didnt go well. Buy a reliable thermometer and check the temp, then make necessary adjustments. I really like my GQF dial thermometer. It looks like a big meat thermometer. You can order them online. Also make sure your humidity is right, like Bl Copper said in the previous post. If the temp was too low it could cause a delay in hatch. Too high temps cause early hatches or high enough will kill the chicks. Hope u get it worked out. Good luck! :)

Thank you, I bought all new thermometers last year. Funny how they all read a little different. One GQF dial, one used mercury thermometer that my friend gave me. I think it may be the most accurate and three brensia. I hatched many hatches in my GQF cabinet. No problems. I think the cats must have hit the dial and messed up temperature. Then I wasn't sure which thermometer to go with. Two have hatched and one more pipped. I candled and all of the Marans eggs have chicks in them at least started. That makes me think that my Ameraucana rooster isn't fertile. Temperature must have been a little low. Today is day 22 so I will bump my temperature 1/2 degree next hatch. Hope more pip tonight and we will see how the hatch ends up.

Cute! Can’t wait for more peepers.

How old are the thermometers and incubator? I’ve heard that going by the air cell is often inaccurate. Does the incubator read temp/humidity?
Humidity read about 35-40 through hatch. But not 100% sure since I didn't test it this year for accuracy. I bought new thermometers last year. My incubator is a older GQF cabinet and has done a very good job so far.

I just remembered something. When I was having problems with incubator. Which actually ended up having to reset both thermostats. It took a while and my first Maran eggs where a little old but set them anyways because that pen stopped laying. Lavender rooster still questioning fertility. Have I driven you all crazy trying to figure this out! Lol Still praying more to hatch!
