International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

Just curious- how many birds and breeds do you have!? I'm a bit jealous

Too many! Lol. When the man came to test my birds for my NPIP certificaton he tested around 160 adult birds and that wasnt all of them. We have probably around 200-250 counting chicks, grow outs, and free ranging layers. That's just an approximated guess. We raise standard American Games and standard Old English Games of various color varieties, Black and Blue Copper Marans, Cream Legbars, and now Old English Game bantams. I also have several White Leghorn layers and various hybrid layers including Olive Eggers. So we have a few. I never know the actual head count because ignorance is bliss. Chicken math is real, and they are an addictive hobby. :)

Wow, That must be quite the feed bill! I thought my feed bill was bad when I had 60 adults and a few chicks. I had 6 turkeys also and golden pheasants. It is very addictive! If it makes you feel better chicks and roosters don't count and 4 Bantams equal 1. You have got to love chicken math! I bet they don't even teach this in school. Lol

That is very true! And my husband buys most of the feed so I try not to think about it. Lol

this is the reply from chook's friend:

Jose is fine. We have been very busy lately as we have sold all of our Marans. They went all over Australia and all sold within 3 weeks to eager buyers. We are both happy that the breeding lines will be maintained especially as one woman took 48 of them with all the possibilities of creating more, thanks to Jose's 3 year breeding plan.
I will let him know that you have contacted me and that you have been concerned.
