International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

hi every one how we doing .
too much rain all the work stopped on the new farm. I ll get there one day or another .

the comb has to be managed in both sexes Hen and Cock.

for me because I don t show .the comb is the last thing in my selection.

here the order of selection I fellow ;

1) dark egg.
2) type.
3) mass
4) head ,eyes. comb
5) hackle and body color ( variety color pattern )
6) feet, feathers and color .
7) over all health and resistance to disease .
8) uniformity
9) keeping them dual purpose .mean 180 large eggs per year per hen and a heavy weight plus testy meat ( marans flesh is classified Haute Game . cream de la cream .with la Breese and la Flech both French breeds )

like this I know what I m doing and where I m at in my breeding program .

I just don t cull the chook because is faulty . I only cull when I don t see a way to correct the fault or I have a better subject .

Good Day Chooks Man,

Sorry you can't work on your new place. We are getting some rain but need it to cool things off.

I have been looking at pictures on Marans Aspirans. Thank you for helping me get on the thread.

You would be proud of me today. I sold 9 Bielefelders. I am keeping to my plan and preparing my operation for Marans.

I do think once I get the BCM settled I want to do Birchen... but that is down the road.

Chooks Man,

I looked at your pics on your profile. That is a pretty amazing chicken set up!

Chooks Man, On the French forum what does NCC mean?

I have 10 BCM young pullets, You have seen four of them. I have a couple of older BCM hens, not good quality.

I'll take pictures while you are sleeping.

NCC stand for Noir a Camail Cuivre ,mean Black copper .

Noir = Black
Camail = Hackle
Cuivre = Copper.

in French they call the ER family genetic ( Hackle family ) la famille au Camail.

that why I argue about the silver cuckoo ,hen should have a lighter silvery hackle not uniform BECAUSE she belong to the Hackle family ER/ER.

hope that help

It is a day time now 11 54 am too much rain .So i ll Stay in the forum .

I am looking around on the Marans Aspiran. It is difficult to navigate for me compared to BYC. Much easier here but I am looking at pictures.

I saw the most beautiful Rooster I have ever seen it belonged to Laurent. The copper was so perfect.
