International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

All the chickens are locked up. I have to stop feeding the predator. One of my Cream Legbars escaped the coop this morning and ran to another coop. She wanted to be in the coop with the CM and the BCM. Silly chicken. When chickens have their mind set on something it is impossible to dissuade them!

Do no feed the predator.
secure your flock .

fox proof fences are good thing to have .

you can afford to loose your marans chooks .

I know a guy here who keeps a hunting dog in the run at night. his chickens don't have a coop, they sleep on a big olive tree. and there are foxes around.

I am lucky that my street is small and there are many dogs barking at night so no foxes in my street. although they do come about 500 m from me.

beautiful! I have never seen a hen with that much copper (except in photos). bcm in greece suck. they all have green sheen (although they look nice).

with sheen they look nicer but they will not have a great balanced copper.

most of if not all the BCM hens who are black have sheen.

more penguiney type chicks when hatched will have sheen too.

soon you ll not have to deal with a Greek BC copies . you will have a real deal .
