International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

Quote: You are right..... I did mess up on the tail but I was only looking at angle. I thought I would get a better idea from a rear picture.... but you could see it was open from the side view. I saw a splash coq of yours on Marans Aspiran, beautiful with a wonderful hackle. Have you done anything with him? What is he?

Thank you so much, everyone. I will get more pictures of him and the pullets when I turn them out shortly. I have trouble telling the pullets apart, they are identical to each other and just starting to get their copper hackles. Their mothers had lovely broad bands of copper around their necks and I am hoping for the same. The cockerel's color is changing almost daily. He looks like polished glass in the sun.

is this the rooster you are talking about?

his name is Saladen Son of Samir ( Dominant white/ Splash ) over a black hen Soumeya ,so I m not sure if he is a splash or incomplete White copper ( very rare ).
I need to find out so I m going to test mate him to few different hens to see what genes he carries .
1) mate him to his half sister pure Dominant white =?
2) mate him to a well marked BCM hen = if he is a white copper all the progeny should be well marked white coppers Because the white dominant convert a black to white but have no effect on the coppers. ( will be nice if he s a white copper ).
if he is a splash than expect all Blue copper.NOT exiting

he s giant .I ll take new photos after I move them to the new place ,soon

This one is very nice but I meant this one.

Ah you are talking about HERCELUS .he is not splash ( you have to rise your marans IQ, haha )
he is a what the french call , Blanc Herminie . incomplete colombian . only few breeders have it in France very very rare .

I was lucky this rooster and his sisters show up in the Birchen line crossing of the F2 X F2 ( brothers /sisters crossing ) as a recessive e+ e+. CoCo SS . not pure yet but it is easy to do .I have all the genes I need to purify them and breed them true.

I have a big plan for this big boy a lot girls are lined up for him . he is going to be very happy boy. hopefully he will thank me for it and produce a good babies for me .
