International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

these were my penguins. 1 had an accident and died. it looked like boy although too young to be sure.

the other 2 are luna and marco.

this are not penguin type .
this are the proper down color I described early on .balck hatch down with white only they under ,chest and a tip of they wings.

your are a same as the the one one on the left in the photos I posted . CORRECT

here a penguin type chick

the blue chick are correct but the black copper chick is penguin type ( that the one we call penguin not the dark one like the blue )

photos helps .we are from different country and we use different chooks world.

you where correct about your observation ,you said your are penguin type but they colored up nice without white feathers . Only a problem they where a proper hatch down color .

now you know the one like your are the black ( correct one ) and not penguin .

It is hard to take pictures of eggs. The color doesn't look the same. These are a couple of yesterdays eggs. The bottom right is darker than it appears here. Very mahogany. Blue egg is a pale blue. Egg on the left is a shade lighter than the one on the right.

very nice RedBank . gorgeous color and sheen . I say a good 5and 6 but then photo is never a same.

you need to take photos of the egg on the top of the color chart .
so put the egg on the top of the one with a same color and take a photos , that will give us a better idea .

Thanks for the photos, I understand what you mean by "penguiny".

Not that it alway warrants culling but the down may be our first clue when it comes to what the chick may look like as a adult.

So another way to say this is "we ideally should see chicks with a more solid colored head and back". (right?)

The chick you mention in the above picture does have a noticeably more faded face and less solid color than the other chicks, even on half of it's wings.

@Chooks man

Our Bello has a white feather. His tail is turning into a very nice tail but there are a couple of crazy feathers that are right behind the saddle. They go in crazy directions and one of them has some white in it. His tail no longer looks like it belongs on a different bird. It is great angle, tented closed..... but..... he has a feather with a bit of white on it. That is why I asked if it could be from an injury and that is what I thought it was but I read your post today and you say they cannot have a white feather injury unless they carry the parasite white.
