International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

Okay I got out of class earlier than usual this evening and was able to get a few more pictures before it started getting dark.

Splash Copper pullet #1:

Splash Copper pullet #2:

Also managed to get a decent picture of my oldest Black Copper cockerel. This one is my only keeper cockerel in this group. He is getting his copper in slowly but surely. I picked him up and he has a lot of new copper feathers coming in underneath the baby black feathers. He is going on 16 weeks old.

Here is one of my oldest Black Copper pullets.. very difficult to get good pics of these. They run around so fast I cant get anything but blurs. Also going on 16 weeks old.

She had her head down pecking at the ground. Love the copper!

I can't wait to see these girls with red combs.... they will be stunning. I love Splash Hens. Is the last one a FRF pullet? Looking good!

It may be my groggy night shift brain but I dont know what FRF stands for. Havent slept since the night before last so excuse my stupor. Lol.

She is from the group that came from Louisiana, she is pure BCM (Bev Davis/LP).

I tried to get good pics of my group from Amanda and the pen is so big they move around too much. I will keep trying. :)

And thank you. I love the look of splash marans too. I am so eager to experiment with the splash and BCM to get some Blues. Im hoping their egg color is good. They hatched from #4 eggs and are full sisters. Im hearing that is pretty satisfactory for splash.

And because I am a hoarder of all things chicken related, I kept my keeper cockerel's egg shell he hatched from (the group from Louisiana). I refer to him as "Blue Band" because he has a blue band. That's how we name chickens here. Lol. He is pictured in that last group of pics I posted. It is 5-6ish based on my color card.

Thank you BB. I like Gabby too! She isn't one of Antonio's girlfriends so she is not in these pictures. She hangs out with Bello. There are a couple of pullets that look a lot like her. The funny thing about Antonio's group is they don't change coops. Bello and Claude switch coops and keep different hens/pullets with them. Every night those two coops have a little bit different makeup but Antonio always has the same 13 pullets. His girls stay with him. He has 5 Cuckoos, 6 BCM and 2 Ameraucanas. His BCM pullets are the youngest I have.

what a man!

Beautiful egg..... not too many of mine get named. My favorite Splash was named Paloma, she was as pretty as a dove, Chooks man made me name the boys. I have Gabby and Alma. The two wheaten Ams are the "Sisters". I do like naming them though. I am going to try to do better. I will put Blue Band on my possibles! LOL
