International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

I do have a couple marans, I got 4 that are 8 weeks old. they were supposed to be BCM but I belive one is just black. my question is how can I properly breed any marans and what kind of marans to end up with a good pure BCM line. I have plenty of room and time to do whatever I need do.I will get better pictures when I get off this evening to upload, I'm afraid these won't be much help

hi there they are too young to tell but what I can see is good .

all 4 have nice long flat back .that great .
3 of them are free from the parasitic white except the last cockerel ( colorful one )
tail Angle look good for the time been .

let them do some growing and post more pick off them with number like cockerel 1 ,cockerel2 etc................... make it easy for us to separate them .

where is a pullets ?
Do you know the cockerel don t lay eggs .they don t breed by them selves .

those are the only onesolution I could find, the person that I got them from just called and said she had 4 more hatch out so I'm praying for ladies in that bunch.

I had to drive 3 and half hours to get those, I wish I could find some more but it's really been struggle. but I'm not giving up, I want quality BCM so I'm going to keep working and keep looking.

just really not much to choose from.

you are wrong they are nice BCM cockerel just need to find a pullet from a same line . I like them they have a lot going on for them ,they are just young and you can t choose a cockerel if you don t have a hen/pullets to match him too.
like walking blind .

Rooster can be great but if we don t have to pair him too than is a bad luck we can pair him to any other breed .

why you don t try to get some fertile BCM eggs for this coming breeding season ?

I think you will have a better chance .plus you will see the color of the eggs they are going to hatch from .

all the Best
