International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

Sweet! I'm a fan of Brinsea products myself - they're pricey but well built and reliable.

Good luck with hatch 3!!

Keith

I had enough of the cheap thing Home made or shed made . cheap component .

the incubator I m using cost $1400 plus $350 fright .
I lost over $3000 between inc1 and inc2 . I can t go like that .

the Brinsea incubator plus Hatcher plus few other thing Extra species try etc.... cost me $6000 but no cheap component latest technology .

can t wait .

chooks man

Brinseas are great incubators. We upgraded our old GQF Sportsman for the newer digital model. I like it very much. Then we use a GQF Hovabator Genesis digital incubator as a hatcher to keep the humidity where it needs to be when we stagger hatches each week.

These pictures were taken last hatching season. Getting ready to start the incubators back up soon though. :)

Brinsea do look very nice but I'm a hard core GQF fan! I have an old 1202 cabinet and 2 styrofoam hova bators. I Isuzu have great hatches and love them to death. I had the opportunity to borrow and test a brinsea Octo 20 and I have to say that I was not impressed. While every egg developed, humidity was a major issue at lockdown.

I am clearly not hatching on a level with some of you, but I do like my little Hovabator still air incubator. I put a 6W reptile heating pad under the water tray that I plug in when I am hand turning eggs and it helps it get back up to temp much more quickly. You just HAVE to remember to unplug it when you're done.

Hello all, my luck has been against me lately.
My rooster did not make it, despite all the medical intervening he died.
I later found that he had a cardio vascular deformity, I should have taken photos (I know a few of us medical enthusiasts would have appreciated the bizarreness of it).

Out of 13 chicks that he sired only 3 were the product of him and one of his sisters (the better looking sister haha), I hope to replace him by breeding that son back to his sister.
I shall post photos of the best looking cockerel that he fathered (all 3 are boys) soon, these 3 chicks have been the only ones of the 13 that I have diligently tried to keep records of.

I'm sorry for your loss.

We have always used the Sportsman incubators. Our old one was a 1202 as well and it was 11 or 12 years old when we sold it and upgraded to the digital. I kind of wish I would have kept it as a hatcher but it needed some work. They are very reliable incubators and our hatch rates are great. Both the Genesis and Sportsman hold their temps and humidity well and are easy to regulate humidity. I took out the auto turner from my Genesis and use it to put eggs in we are collecting to be set. It keeps them turned so I dont have to remember to do it. Lol Im all for anything that makes my life easier. ;)
