He looks young; maybe there's still hope? One of mine had a floppy comb, and I was planning on culling it, but just a few days ago, it started to stand upright again! I had no idea that could happen.

thanks for information. This is what is wrong: suddenly laying down a lot 2 days ago. Seemed to be limping. No apparent injury. By next day not getting up. Last night convulsions. Not eating on own. Held him most of the night playing whole tones music for healing. Duramycin in water as well as natural things like garlic. Adding sugar today. The music and being wrapped in my arms with prayer stopped convulsions. Still weak and not able to stand today.Quote:
sorry to hear about your rooster . what wrong with him exactly . he is not drinking that all or there is other thing wrong with him . if you are forcing him to drink than make sure add some sugar in it . chooks man
Chooks Man, congratulations on your 2017 Blue Boy hatchling!!!! Excited to see pics when they come!!! I am happy For you my friend across the earth! I would stay up all night for them too. I still get excited over my colorful egg basket. My silver cuckoos lay dark eggs but it seems my Double Laced Barnvelders are darker. Rooben eating on his own but still refuses to drink. No standing up.

Thank you! Hope keep keeps up the trend and it gets a shade darker each day. lolVery nice egg color!! She's going in the right direction. Congrats!
I would probably express my concerns about the eggs. And the poor hatch rates. A responsible breeder wouldn't send dirty, porous, or weird shaped eggs. Or pullet eggs. My neighbor just paid dearly for lavender english orphington eggs and 90% of them were very obviously pullet eggs. I'm incubating some of them as we speak.Ugh, what a horrible hatch I'm having! I was holding out hope for that batch of dirty Lavender Ameraucana eggs I received, and despite 2 blood rings and a stink bomb, 5 seemed to be developing alright. The first hatched well, and the second seemed to be doing okayat first, but a few hours later, it died.
The third got stuck midway through zipping, and after about 8 hours, I finally pulled it out. It was a mess! Its right knee (the part up near the body) wouldn't flex, its toes were curled, and there was an odd bone protrusion under the skin on its back. No idea what was going on there. Anyhow, I had to put it down, which is never a fun thing to do.
The two other eggs are in the bator. One pipped at the wrong end, and I'm waiting to see if can make it out on its own. The other egg is peeping, but no pip yet. The shell has always looked weird though (strangely porous/wet-looking) so I'm not betting on it being okay.
If the healthy one is a female, and that's all I get, I'll still be somewhat satisfied. I'm just trying to decide if I should make an issue of this with the breeder..![]()

If you're lucky and the breeder has any bit of a conscience, they may send replacements. It's worth a shot. There is always a gamble with shipped eggs, that is a line I'm sure you have heard. However, a good breeder gives the buyer the best shot they can by sending fresh, nice sized and shaped eggs that are nonporous, and clean but unwashed. You should have gotten at least a 30-50% hatch rate (that's always the absolutely best I hope for with shipped eggs).
I would be upset if I were in your situation, and yes I have been there done that with hatching eggs. Communicate with the breeder and hopefully you will receive a second set. They may request you pay shipping which is fair I suppose.
Otherwise, if they have a facebook or somewhere you can leave a bad review go that route (with pics). I'm so sorry you have gone through this. I know you were looking for lavender Ameraucanas, but Redbanks on here has Blue Ameraucanas. I'm sure she would hook you up. Her birds are beautiful and lay lovely blue eggs.
Here's hoping your little chicks are a male and female pair!![]()
