Hi ed Bank .nice to see back .I thought pullet too!
Hi there .yes he look black but his hatch mate has a coppery hackle .
I think he is just a Black copper without copper that all .
if you said the gals has solid Black and solid blue maybe they got mix up
Do not mate hin to any Black copper strain please .
let him do some growing and will see how his final body color will be .
the reason I say he is not pure black because of his shank/feet color .they are pinkish at bottom . if he was pure black they will be solid dark grey
I like his body type and his early feathering trait .
keep us posted of his progress .

Quote: Thank you Chooks Man! I missed you and everyone here. I was gone so long I can't catch up on the posts. Just going to have to risk it that I haven't missed too much and most likely someone down the road will answer the same question. Haven't lost a chicken in months. Since I got the dog the varmints have stayed away but..... I caught the dog with an egg in his mouth today.
The flock is doing great. I could not walk much for a couple of weeks but on the road to recovery...... almost 100%. Hurt my back lifting chicken feed! I had to really let things slide though so I am way behind.
My hens never stopped laying and the eggs are still pretty dark. I have a man coming to cut trees and I am going to move the coops. Poor Antonio I am going to destroy his world. He is amazing rooster taking care of his little flock.
I am just going to get a little Brinsea. I am getting between 15 to 22 eggs a day. Nothing like your operation but a lot of eggs for me!
They have really grown. They look great!here some up date about the little chicks .they are huge now ( the first few hatch )
my veranda become a big pen. they claim it . I don t think they are going to move out ,especially the winter is coming .
I don t mind ,they can stay
I cover it with a shade cloth to keep them sheltered because they left the brooder .

if there is any presence of copper in they hatch mate ,than they are Black /blue copper without enough copper .
with a blue a copper is even harder to put on .
they are nice type . I love they long back and early feathering type .
