International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

I'm glad you corrected me on this. I knew better than that, I refer to my BBS chart regularly. Pardon my night shift sleep deprived stupor. lol

To get 50% splash and 50% blue you would have to mate a blue to a splash. :)

yes my friend .
there is one thing the splash matted to the blue is a worst of time .they do not benefit from each other .
a Splash will give a better result if it is bred to a splash .
a Blue will give a great result if bred to a BC.

your understanding of the marans chooks breed genetic is very high now . you are a fast learner . you should be very proud of your self . Respect to you !!!!!!!!!!

Look no further this is the rooster I was talking about. It's the third blue copper but the fourth bird I posted. Sorry for the confusion. I wasn't sure about the lighter undertones in his tail. I am thinking eventually I will need to find a home for one of them. Three pens and 4 roosters. Depends on if two can live together in my main pen. So far so good but never know.

2 roosters in one pen is possible but they need a space and lot more hens.

good luck
