Seven weeks, first foray out of the coop, there are some nice pullets in this group.

Looking good! I envy your weather to be able to let yours out. My Red Banks birds are still in my brooder building until Im confident they will survive the winter outside. It was in the 30's yesterday and has been in the 40's today but its rainy and a muddy mess. If the rain stops I may put them outside this weekend.

This cold snap has been horrible so Im grateful for milder temps. We had to dub my two Cream Legbar cock birds due to horrible frost bite on their combs and wattles. I could have cried because my best one, Fawkes, had a glorious comb. :hit Maximus and Griffin has frostbite damage too, Griffin looks worse.

That cold weather is tough, I should never complain. Sorry to hear about Fawkes (Harry Potter) and Griffin. Glorious combs are hard to come by on a CLB. It is a glorious day in the 70's. Sunshine. I cleaned coops. Gave the chicks "big chicken" feeders. 7 cockerels and 9 pullets.... very excited about the pullets. All my strength seem to be in the pullets.

I am so sorry! :hugsMy roosters are getting frostbite also! This cold weather is awful! I am ready for spring! RedBanks could share some of that nice weather with her chicken friends! ;)

I keep thinking about cleaning my coops but the highs are around 40 degrees. Can you please share some warm weather. Just can't force myself out there. It's going to be a long blah winter. I am reading a learning about birchen. There isn't much else to do!

So happy to hear you got more pullets than cockerels! And 70 degrees and sunny sounds just fabulous in comparison to the chilly, rainy, and dreary bleh it is outside here right now. It would be so nice to move south! I long for springtime.

And I knew there was a reason we got along so well! You like Harry Potter! :D I saw the name Fawkes very fitting for my favorite Legbar. He is a very regal looking bird.. or he was. I am keeping him in a small 4x4 pen until he heals from being dubbed so he isn't very happy being away from his harem. Good combs are definitely hard to come by on the Legbars. I'm hoping I get lucky and he passes some of those nice comb genes to a few of his offspring. So far all of his babies have crooked combs like their mothers. Very frustrating.

I will take 40 degrees any day over the the bitter cold temps we've had. I walked out for a bit with short sleeves on for a bit and was fairly comfortable. lol

Keep reading so you can teach me about them!

Just a question about BYC. There used to be a TS on my avatar. I assumed that stood for thread starter. Now I have an OP, any idea what that means?
