@kfelton0002

very nice comb .keep him out of the trouble .
keep him with a layer hens .they will look after his comb and will teach him manners

you are getting there . the power of selective breeding . no magic neither luck . just hard work and determination .

Bravo

chooks man

He will definitely get to stay with a nice comb like that. The layers and free ranging Game hens keep the young cockerels in their place, and so does Griffin who rules the roost with the layers. There shouldn't be much fighting amongst the cockerels for quite some time because they are so outranked.

I'm very happy to see improvements in combs, even if so far it is just one bird out of all my line A cockerels. It is going to be a slow process getting the lines closer to SOP but I enjoy them very much and my husband is a very tolerant man. :)

you only need correct chook to help fix a problem . now you have him .take care of him .
who is his mama?

he is well colored too .
love his bottom .wide and close to the ground .not high on his feet .good trait to have .

His mama is one of my original Line A hens, #60. His sire is #60's nephew Apollo, who is also pure line A.

So I just flipped back 10+ pages trying to find picks of your beautiful marans and came up empty. Was just explaining to my man why we are going to buy and fortify a $650 store bought coop for my spring project of raising some more marans from the breeder we got chester. It's pruning season on the farm and with our own hobby farm there are just too many projects to build another coop like our main one. Going to take the easy way out this year and plan better for next. If I have good luck maybe we can do a little trading :)

Now show of them Roos!!!

These pics are a few months old but these are my oldest roosters. Apollo and Maximus are my current breeders. Griffin is running with my layers for now.

Wow, What a workout! I cleaned out and disinfected the incubator and Hatcher. Started the incubator up and purring like a kitten. For about 5 minutes until the electric went out again. This is the second time in about a month. Now we need a miracle to get power back and staying on for 21 days. Just adding would you all Pray for my Sissy kitty she is only about 7 months old and the vet may have to take out her eye. I am so sad.

Sorry to hear about your kitty's eye. Poor thing! What happened to her eye? Cats are pretty tough so she will do okay without the eye, especially because she is young. She will adapt to being one-eyed and be just fine.

Glad to hear you got your incubator up and running! Hopefully you wont have an power outages once you have eggs set.

The people I got her from just wanted to make money. She was just too young and very sick when I got her and her brother. If I hadn't had bought them I am sure they would have been dead by now. They had a virus, ear mites, fleas, tape worms. After several months and many trips to vet she is doing good. All but her eye the vet thinks it did damage to the duct when she was so little and sick. It is always red. We are going to try very expensive drops. That she would be on the rest of her life. If the eye continues to bother her he wants to remove the eye. I am hoping for a miracle.
