@kfelton0002 this is more representative- pic angle inspired by your recent photos of Edward. The flaws I see as most to work on are the faint feather on the middle toe, comb bends to the left. It's huge and flops but winter will likely tame that :( Some chest leakage. And his eyes still have a little marbling. But he is 16 wks old and the same size as chester- the roo who didn't fill out until 9+ months. He's a big boy. He's got great copper color and a great type, nice long back, and he doesn't crow like the death metal rooster (google it). We call him Prince. (I love music). But as we know from your updates that tail can rise up so... good thing I have dark girls with low tails.

I will have to see how mean he gets. If he continues I will for sure remove his spurs. It's not what I prefer to do but I guess it would be better than in the pot. He doesn't get aggressive with my husband so far. Harvey said he has never had a aggressive Blue Copper rooster. The Birchen on the other hand! Boy am I in trouble!!! :thlol

Ya know, I'm not sure how it is I tame my Roos. My first was given to me by a farmer who flinched when I reached in to grab him and said "he's mean". He looked at me stunned when I held him up and said "hey buddy I got a harem for you" Chester challenged me too but I just picked him up and waited till he settled to release him. And my new cockerel tried to give me the shagtime shuffle so I pushed him into a corner and lectured him. Nice and calm with all boys but I remember flinching and saying to myself nope. Can't do that. You can do it without a bat. Keep eye contact and don't flinch. Be assertive yet kind- but more assertive. That's your space not his. And do it fast while he is young.

Yeah one of Harvey's old birchen brood cocks is mean. I think he kept him because he was extremely good quality as a breeder. Sometimes you just have to put up with them. Lol

Yep those tails can spring up practically overnight it seems. I hope he turns out to be a good breeder for you. Picking out breeders is the hardest part of the whole thing. I find it works to make a pros and cons list of each bird. Type, top line, breast depth, bottom line.. those are the most important, then color, then the smaller details like comb, eyes, etc.

That's the thing he has always been the curious friendly one and always in your space. Now he is the aggressive one always in your space. If you are walking through the pen he started running up on your heels. That for sure will lead to a attack. So I stop and face him. He stops but doesn't back down. I wait till something draws his attention off. My husband has been saying for some time now he is a brave one. Not afraid of anything.

This is Logan! AKA ( TROUBLE)!!!! He so far is my best looking Blue Copper cockerel. He is also trying to be very aggressive. He charges and I have to stop and face him to keep him from attacking. Stand there until something draws off his attention. I have to either go in the pen with something he is scared of or I carry my shovel. He is very young to be this aggressive. My husband tells me to beat the tar out of him but that would make things worse. I have thought about separating him. Maybe if he is knocked down in rank. It might fix the problem. He has not yet tagged me but would if given the chance. Any ideas that could help? It would be greatly appreciated!

I have always had great success with giving a lot of hugs and kisses to my cockerels and roos. they all have been puppies. sorry but with my experience I even don't believe there are aggressive genes. please note I do have time to spend hours/days to tame my birds.
