We’ve had a lot of rain too, so I have a muddy girl too. :D

Aww she kinda reminds me of my old girl Gretta.. poor thing got took by varmints back in the summer. She was my darkest layer. :(

We have dealt with so much mud this year, I'm sick of it.

Kayla, Here are the eggs from today. Sorry it took me so long to get a picture for you.

Looking really good! Wish my girl from Harvey would lay. She's a big diva. lol
How old is she? The bottom egg is a first egg. I have 5 laying so far. Two really good things. The Blue Coppers that I got from Harvey. They lay 5 to 7 days a week and no blood spots that I have seen.

That's good to know. Is the egg color from the blue coppers good? My cockerel and pullet come from his blue copper line. I'm thinking she is around 8 months old or so. She was laying before he shipped her to me.

I hope you get eggs soon. I think most of these eggs if not all are from the Blue Coppers. I have only seen Blue Coppers in the nest.

Great! I look forward to getting eggs from her. I have been getting a couple eggs a day from some of the pullets free ranging. One is laying decently dark actually. I just don't know which one it is. lol

Ok you can t wait . So I have to tall you .

the Marneck is dual purpose heavy breed .60% marans ,10% NN ,15% CLB and 15% Araucana
big body type '
heavy mass 4/5Kg
Necked Neck
Large eggs layer .all sort of colours .Olive Eager
straight comb

the best way to achieve this result is to make 3 different crosses at the start ,
First crosses=
Marans BC X Araucana = Group A
Marans Golden Cuckoo X CLB = G B
Marans White X NN = GC

2nd Crosses=
Group A Crossed Back to Marans Columbian= F2 GA
GB crossed Back to Marans Silver Cuckoo - F2 GB
GC X back to Marans Wheaten = F2 GC

3rd and forward crossing are more complicated to achieve the percentage of each trait from each variety alright and to breed true the type and the eggs colour .

Long journey ,will take the rest of my life to get it done if I m lucky
this is not a cross of few breeds .this is a project to create a new strain of chooks .stable and breed true .I ll make my own SOP.

looking forward to start

chooks man

I want to create something more simple: dual purpose, somewhat heavy/meaty, black and lavender colour, naked neck, comb is not important and olive egger.

if I understood well, I can breed araucana roo with a heavy hen so I get chunky chicks. in order to get naked neck olive eggers I should first get blue egg NNs, right?

how can I make sure they will always lay olive eggs? or should I keep them like naked neck easter/olive eggers?
