International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

what do we need to create golden salmon marans? I love this colour and I don't care about the correct name. is there any chance I can create them? I have just asked in marans aspiran if there is anyone who has them.

you can not make them from other varieties .you need to have the e+ wild type genes .even one copy can do .
most of the wheaten strain out there do carry the e+ genes .because it is recessive to the wheaten .plus the 2 roosters look a same .so peoples mixed them up .

I prefer my self a salmon pattern but on the silver .

not about marans but I have a roo with persisting canker or some infection. he has cheese like staff growing in his mouth. I have been treating him for cancer and he gets better for about a week then he gets that nasty staff again. I gave him antibiotics as well. as he was sneezing today I checked his mouth and there is yellow gunk again. any suggestion what to do with it? it has been like that for about 2-3 months. I wonder if it might be wet pox.

at this moment I cannot get any roos as I don't have room. I am thinking of getting some of these in a few months.

what can I get by mating golden cuckoo to bcm?

golden cuckoo mated to the BC you ll get=
if the roo is double barred cuckoo all the progeny will be golden cuckoo dark cockerels
if the roo is dark golden cuckoo than hilf of the progeny will be golden cuckoo the other half will be BC
if the hen is Golden cuckoo than only cockerel will be dark golden cuckoo.

if the stuff is smelly than it is bad . inside infection ,no much you can do about it .
if the stuff does not smell than it is a different story .

me personally I put any chooks to sleep if I see that stuff in they mouth .

this staff is not smelly. only the roo and 1 hen have had it. the other 8 hens that live in the same coop are ok.

the hen has gunk in her mouth again. as it has been going on for about 2-3 months I am positive it is wet pox. the other hens don't have it as all of them already had fowl pox a few years ago. I gave my roo raw garlic and I am going to put some iodine in his mouth a few times a day. if that helps, good, if not he is gone. pitty, I love him and wanted to keep him forever with my mixed laying flock. he came from british araucana flock but he is much bigger so there must be some other blood in there. I wanted to use him to breed olive eggers, he would be perfect. I will pray for him to recover. for the hen too, as she has been great broody. why always the best ones must go?

if it is not smelly than it is a wet pox .no cure for it as well .will hung around for a long time in the flock and the area they are living in .

the best way to deal with it ,is to eliminate the sick birds and disinfect all the area with iodine solution .

my mum used to say to me when I was young and helping her " keep the healthy chooks healthier and help the sick chooks to depart from this life without pain "

I learn my lesson with a last marans breeding project .I bred chooks I shouldn t .I pay for it heavily .

this time I ll never breed the chooks that been sick in they life ,only the healthy ones will breed .
naturally healthy chooks is my goal this time NO the SOP of any kind .
