International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

sorry to hear that. I hope she gets well.

Sorry to hear about your Grandmother. I will keep you all in Prayer. I believe my Harvey birds are from a Blue Copper breeding. I don't even know if He has solid Blues.

So sorry your grandmother is having troubles.
Sending prayers for you both.

:( sorry to hear. Hopefully it will be as easy of a process for her as possible. It is nice to hear she has you to keep her spirits up while she deals.

lovely pullets .love the hackle marking ,full and pure silver .
the pullet with a long tail will help you breed early feathering type .
if you need to know how ,let me know .I ll explain to you how can be done .

@Chooks man - This sounds interesting! So there is a use for our long tailed females. I look forward to hearing this. - Keith

the reason I pick her up is not because of her long tail .I pick her up because she is a Early feathering type .
this pullet or any other pullet with a Early feathering type can be used to correct a slow feathering type .here how can be done .
1} mate this pullet to a slow feathering type cockerel .you ll get a a mixture of early feathering and slow feathering chicks . select only the best early feathering type cockerel or 2 .
2} mate those cockerels to they Dam { Early feathering type hen}= you ll be the 1st Back cross progeny . most of them will be early feathering type .select the best 2 cockerels .
3} mate those 2 cockerels to any early feathering type hen = you ll get early feathering type progeny .

if we want to use feathering as the way to sex the chicks than the Sire { Rooster} should be Early feathering type and the pullets/hens slow feathering type .= all the pullets progeny will be early feathering type and all the cockerels will be slow feathering type . easy to sex @hatch .
