View attachment 1795512 I don’t think this hatch is going to happen. I’m not sure those eggs were fertile. And they look a mess now. I should pull the plug right? Should have hatched by yesterday giving a few extra days.
Edit: eggs are sloshing so he’s not doing his job with The Marans. He’s got the olive eggers fertile but maybe his clumsy 2 left feet don’t impress the the other girls. @kfelton0002 i need a new roo!!
My 2 year old BLCM Hens started laying again after I broke them up from being broody. I’m pleased with their color and shape. Sheen could be better and their eggs lack size at 56-60 grams. The #8 egg in the egg carousel was laid earlier this year and is the only #8 that I have ever got from my birds. I was so happy and bummed at the same time because I knew the egg was not fertile.

Not good pictures remember my camera lightens things. He looks almost lavender. I have a pullet but she is bright white with splashes.

My Birchen are very slow featuring. The cockerels are still naked.
Sorry I havent been around much. My grandmother has been sick again so Ive been having to take her back and forth for imaging studies and appointments. Her cancer had been in remission but now she has what appears to be a seeminly unrelated mass in her sinuses that is causing problems and will need surgery and possibly chemo again. Sorry I haven't been as active on the forum. She raised me from an infant so I've been having a hard time.![]()
Sorry to hear about your Grandmother. I will keep you all in Prayer. I believe my Harvey birds are from a Blue Copper breeding. I don't even know if He has solid Blues. Some of my neighbors spash orphingtons look like that. They are solid blue/black based, so no copper. She has been struggling with unwanted color leakage in the hackle so she doesnt keep splash males as breeders but does use the splash females. The splash color can be hiding unwanted color leakage so thats why she only uses blue or black males in her bbs orphingtons.
Is it possible your cockerel came from solid blue/black based birds and not blue/black copper based?
