the blue pullet stand out .great job with this one .
cockerels look they are a good type .I like the one on the left better silver qualities and pure black plumage .
the birchen pullets has a lovely hackle . she will be a good breeder for a body colour .complete hackle marking .

nice long flat back and a correct tail angle .
love the colour of her shank ,not too dark .great trait .

my favourite of them all . Splash copper with a good hackle and shoulder marking .great stuff .
this cockerel will add body colour to his progeny better than a BCM cockerel with a black shoulder .

@marchick - You have some nice grow outs! The BLCM Pullet looks like she will be a large girl when she matures. The Silver Blacks are showing nice silver too!

I separated my Pullets and Cockerels this past weekend. The Cockerels were beginning to bully some of the slower grow outs. In another couple of weeks I will put a two of my older hens in with the cockerels to teach them proper manners.

my youngest pullet .Princess group are laying now .they started last week .not a great coloured eggs .#3 and #4 .

problem when peoples breed for showing .they allways end up loosing the egg colour .
they can not breed type .body pattern and dark egg all in harmony . shame

photos soon . just building for the moment all day s long .
I managed to build the largest and longest DOG run in the world .I joined all the 3 runs together .the north side 55m front. the west side 100m all the length of the property and the south side 70m back .
U shape run wrap around the third of the property . the chooks pens are in the middle . all the 4 dog are together now .
every body is happy now .Except Mr Fox

Thank you Chooks man! The cockerel on the right is actually a dark blue I believe. I am worried about them being brassy but so far so good.

I didn’t hatch any chicks this year because I lost both (and only) breeding Coqs last fall. I have 24 BCM Chicks direct from GFF. I have 9 Chicks from Line A (Egg), 5 from Line B (Show) and 10 from Line C (APA). GFF Lines A&B were imported in 2018 from France. I have 10 Cockerels and 14 Pullets from which to choose. My preference is to breed Lines A&B separately for at least a couple of seasons before I experiment with any out crossing. Line C (APA) has more faults (i.e., side sprigs, parasitic white, brown eyes, comb). For right now I’m gonna let the birds grow out then I’ll formulate a breeding strategy. I have limited space so I will selectively single mate to hopefully achieve a better result.

Can I ask, at what age would you start looking at your bcm Roos and hens to see how close to the sop they are?

Mine right now are only 7 weeks old so I know they are a bit off, but at what point should I start checking them over to decide who stays and who goes?

Also, are there any faults I can start looking for at this age to see if they correct themselves in the future or not?

there is many different traits to select for @ different ages .

first selection start @ hatch .we select for a proper hatch down colour .minimum white possible and not all black .
we select as well for a body type .the plum looking chicks are the right type not the thin tall ones . we select as well for a Blur/green eyes . not brown or black

second selection @ 8 weeks .
@ this stage we select for a body type . we select the chunky .short legged ones .not the tall leggy ones .

third selection @4/5 month old . we select for the body colour { the good one should have a good body colour } .tail and over all look .plus comb .

fourth selection @ laying stage .we select for dark eggs colour ,body colour too . both cockerels and pullets at this stage should have a complete body pattern .

Ah starting all over . so not just me .
the line A&B are imported for France in 2018 so they are pure .and they are a cross between A and B so you don t need to cross them to any other line .keep them pure and split them into many cousin lines .

work with line C separately .if you don t have space ,than focus on line A&B. keep as many cockerels as you can ,they will help you to crate different cousin line in the future .
